Excellent product, simple to use, easy to interpret.
Application Area: Rapid MRSA determination
"One of the easiest kit tests we use in the lab. Currently we are performing this test on SA colonies from blood cultures/sterile sites, and nasal MRSA screening. PBP results match almost perfectly with other testing methods used. While I would personally prefer a same day rapid test to use for our nasal MRSA screening, finances side with the culture/PBP test in our patient payer mix."

The new Alere™ PBP2a SA Culture Colony Test is a rapid immuno-chromatographic assay that uses monoclonal antibodies to assist in the detection of MRSA directly from bacterial isolates in five minutes. In a U.S. study, results were available at least one day sooner than standard antimicrobial susceptibility tests, and were used to effectively modify and improve treatment regimens for patients with S. aureus infections.
