"It is not very easy to work with HILIC columns, but it does works. If I had to choose now, maybe I would prefer to do reverse phase chromatography for this application. The HILIC amides are the more robust columns."

"I like to use this column for my work. It works well and the only obstacle is having to prepare salt solution although this is not too much work."

Description

 

ACQUITY UPLC® BEH HILIC columns contain the rugged 1.7 μm unbonded BEH particles and are designed to retain and separate very polar basic compounds.

These unique columns are optimized and tested to produce efficient and reproducible separations under UPLC® HILIC conditions. ACQUITY UPLC BEH HILIC columns overcome a major weakness of HILIC stationary phases: chemical stability. The unbonded silica stationary phases often used in HILIC are prone to dissolution at neutral pH. The rugged BEH particle’s wide usable pH range overcomes this pH limitation and results in long column lifetimes. ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH HILIC columns offer advantages such as retention and separation of very polar basic compounds, alternate selectivity as compared to reversed-phase chromatography, increased ESI-MS sensitivity, easier sample preparation, high efficiency and long column lifetimes.
