"This column is both robust and reasonably priced. I have been running EPA 8330B explosive analysis on the same column for months with little sign of degradation. Most importantly, in conjunction with a Waters UPLC, productivity has jumped close to 400% due to runtime reductions from ~45 mins on an HPLC to ~10 mins with this column."

"BEH columns are useable for all pH range reversed-phase separation and helped us to replace other laborious desalting cleaning steps before LC-MS/MS experiments for peptides. We use it for iTRAQ, phosphopeptide analysis and global proteomic analysis. Peaks are evenly distributed across the gradient unlike strong cation exchange methods. Basic RPLC using BEH column is our favorite offline method. Peptide separation is very different in low and high pH condition offering a scope for better fractionation. The only one pre-step needed is 30 kDa buffer exchange of protein lysate in urea."

Description

 

C18 and C8 Columns
ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH C18 and C8 columns were designed to be the universal columns of choice for most UPLC™ separations by providing the widest pH range. They incorporate trifunctional ligand bonding chemistries which produce superior low pH stability and ultra-low column bleed. This low pH stability is combined with the high pH stability of the 1.7 µm BEH particle to deliver the widest usable pH operating range.

In addition, these new chemistries also utilize new, proprietary endcapping processes which produce outstanding peak shape for bases. These bonding chemistries and particle synthesis innovations produce the sharpest peaks, highest efficiencies and maximum MS sensitivities.

Shield RP18 Columns
ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH Shield RP18 columns are designed to provide selectivities that complement the ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 and C8 phases. They combine Waters patented Shield Technology* with BEH Technology™ by incorporating an embedded carbamate group into the bonded phase ligand. Waters shield ligands consistently demonstrate increased retention of phenolic compounds versus straight chain alkyl columns. The alternate selectivity and excellent peak shape from the embedded polar group ligand, when combined with the wide pH range and ultra-efficiency of the 1.7 µm BEH particle, provide a necessary and powerful tool for UPLC method development.

Phenyl Columns
ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH Phenyl columns were intelligently designed to provide complementary selectivities, pH stability and excellent peak shape for all compounds. They utilize a trifunctional C6 alkyl tether between the phenyl ring and the silyl functionality. This ligand, combined with the same proprietary endcapping processes as the ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 and C8 columns, provides ultra-low column bleed, long column lifetimes and excellent peak shape. This unique combination of ligand and endcap on the 1.7 µm BEH particle creates a new dimension in selectivity and efficiency for challenging UPLC separations.

HILIC Columns
ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH HILIC columns contain the rugged 1.7 µm unbonded BEH particles and are designed to retain and separate very polar basic compounds. These unique columns are optimized and tested to produce efficient and reproducible separations under UPLC™ HILIC conditions. They overcome a major weakness of HILIC stationary phases: chemical stability. The unbonded silica stationary phases often used in HILIC are prone to dissolution at neutral pH. The rugged BEH particle?? wide usable pH range overcomes this pH limitation and results in long column lifetimes.

ACQUITY UPLC BEH HILIC columns offer advantages such as retention and separation of very polar basic compounds, alternate selectivity as compared to reversed-phase chromatography, increased ESI-MS sensitivity, easier sample preparation, high efficiency and long column lifetimes.

150 mm Length Columns
Chromatographers are always looking for solutions that will deliver more resolution and more robust separations. To meet this need for higher efficiency, Waters developed the new 150 mm length ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH columns. With these new longer length ACQUITY UPLC BEH columns, challenging analytical assays such as impurity profiles and metabolite ID separations can be routinely run with resolutions not previously available with HPLC columns.
