"Very helpful but hard to use as it is unique and different from competitors. Being very flexible and designed for method transfer with both hardware and software adjustments and enhancements, it is a superior instrument in this regard. Automated troubleshooting and using hands instead of tools is another advantage."

"We are using the Waters Arc in combination with a QDa and an analytical fraction collector to isolate natural products. Very easy to operate and maintain. Can be controlled by both Empower and MassLynx. Used by both researchers and students in the lab."

"It is a wonderful system, but the Empower software has a fairly steep learning curve. I don't think that Waters provides adequate help with the software. The help dialog sometimes just brings more unanswered questions. Some of it I have had to learn by trial and error. If you are new, or if it has been a while since you used the software (like me), it might not be as helpful."

"The Arc performs as good as a (U)HPLC. Point for improvement: our Arc is equipped with a 30 cm column oven with column switch. The tubing to connect the column is not marked and gets entangled every time. Columns cannot be mounted firmly and fittings sometimes brake."

It is difficult to say how the service works, because we saw only during installation and maintenance, but probably as always are at the highest level."

While teaching new users may be a bit tricky due to how the Method and Method Sets work, once the user gets a hang of it, it is fairly easy to use. We also purchased an auto-sampler with our system which has allowed made it significantly easier to purify our samples without having to sit next to the HPLC. Overall, for labs that use HPLC this is a smart buy especially for the potential upgrades and extras you can purchase."

"Good results, good repeatability. Good counter-pressure of the system. Acquity Arc requires long preparation times greater than HPLC Alliance. The preparation of instrument is very complex for direct analysis. I observed many cases of air bubbles originating from sample manager purge. These bubbles affect the volume of injection, so affect the value of area. This is a problem in case of the related substances and assay analysis."

"Product has been very effective for pharmaceutical testing allowing use to test legacy HPLC methods, but also develop and transfer methods using newer column technologies and higher pressures. Use of choice between two physical flow paths allows use easy choice of optimized system volume. System works well with Empower and has useful features, (only draw back is I prefer to have a screen on the system for setup and quick shut down in an emergency without having a laptop with me always). Equipment is easy to set up, and has shown it self to be robust. Waters local representatives and troubleshooting personnel have been very helpful with any issues or questions we have had after purchase. Having already had Empower, Alliance and H-Class systems this equipment fits easily into our knowledge base. System is a little high priced compared to a equivalent system by other vendors."

"The Waters Arc system is ideal for transferring methods between instruments when instrument-to-instrument variables, such as dwell volume, play a major role. We are the receiving lab for a great number of methods in which we have minimal to no communication with the transferring lab. The Arc allows us to simulate a wide variety of instrument types in order to best replicate the transferring labs setup without knowing the type of LC they use. However, I was disappointed that when they advertised it as "UHPLC" that the max pressure is <10,000 psi."
