"For my work to identify biomarkers and metabolites quantification in low-level by LCMS the mass spectrometer of Sciex 5500 QTrap is very efficient in two aspects: scanning speed/mass analysis and high sensitivity in MRM mode. "QTRAP® 5500 LC-/MS/MS System was used to quantitate a targeted group of primary and secondary metabolites. MRM parameters were based on the results derived after manual infusion of each compound which once learnt was very easy. All the compound belonging to a group could be put together in a method and a single run on LC coupled to QTRAP 5500 can identify the compounds from the sample even if they have same retention time. The calibration curve can easily be made using multiquant software which requires standard at different concentration and thus getting results is extremely easy. Once the MRM has been made, all standards can be run in mixture thus saving time. The results are accurate as they are based on MRM. Thus the only time consuming step is making a MRM library for the standards. The cleaning is very easy and takes a little time as only the curtain gas plate requires cleaning only if machine is used regularly and the matrix is dirty.
