"The most used triple quadrupole in the area of bioanalysis and still a very sensitive system even if you have the new systems on the market: API 5500, API 6500. The API 4000 QTRAP is very useful for metabolic studies especially C14 studies. Getting a second hand system is quite easy. I would advise to just use a front end HPLC or UPLC from shimadzu."

"Good instrument to perform targeted analysis (e.g. by MRM). It can handle many transitions at the same time (our method has over 120 and it works well). However there are several problems with the Analyst software that have not been solved even in the 1.6 version (frequent crash, turbo heaters suddenly stop working and you have to re-save the method...)."

"I utilize the AB sciex 4000 Qtrap on a daily basis, in an LC-MS set up. This instrument set up for easy set up and ran by beginners. This was my first MS to ever run solo, and it was quick to pick up and utilize with the software. We utilize this set up for water research and it works great. It also requires minimal maintenance."
