Product News: SPE Solutions for Drugs of Abuse Analysis from Thermo Scientific

21 Sep 2011

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has introduced the Thermo Scientific Servo and Servo+ ranges of sample preparation solutions for drugs of abuse testing. These dedicated solid phase extraction (SPE) solutions enable analysts to isolate drug compounds from complex biological samples. The Servo™ portfolio covers total drug screening and specific testing for tetrahydrocanabinol (THC), opiates, amphetamines, phenylcyclohexylpiperidine (phencyclidine, PCP) and cocaine. Specifically designed to enhance routine drugs testing workflows in analytical laboratories, Servo offers a fast and effective resource for high sample throughput, while Servo+™ provides greater selectivity, higher loading capacity and increased robustness.

Sample preparation is one of the most important steps in improving the reliability of a separation technique. SPE methodologies are robust, rugged and rapid, yielding a more concentrated analyte. Simplifying the sample matrix by removing contaminants reduces background and removes extraneous peaks, thus improving the signal to noise ratio and overall sensitivity of the separation technique. Thermo Scientific Servo and Servo+ SPE solutions are a complete workflow enhancement for dealing with difficult sample matrices where extra confidence in results is required.
