Product News: PerkinElmer Introduces LABWORKSTM LIMS 6.1 with Zero Footprint Web Client

PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced the release of LABWORKSTM LIMS version 6.1.

Building upon the powerful LABWORKS 6.0 platform, LABWORKS 6.1 delivers a laboratory information management system (LIMS) with a zero footprint Web client. This new solution can be effectively deployed with minimal user training and is designed to consistently perform on a wide variety of Web browsers.

“In today’s rapidly changing portable device market, it was critical for us to develop a solution that will protect our customers from hardware obsolescence,” said Eric Ziegler, vice president, Chromatography Business Unit, Analytical Sciences, PerkinElmer. “We also recognize that the current economic climate demands the development of cost-effective solutions, and with LABWORKS 6.1, we are able to make wireless LIMS an affordable, maintainable and capable option.”

With foodLIMSTM, waterLIMSTM, greenLIMSTM and processLIMSTM packages, LABWORKS 6.1 LIMS supports the unique needs of laboratories, from pre-login sample organization through reporting and data distribution. A workflow that can be configurable allows laboratories to focus on only those process steps that are relevant to a sample lifecycle, allowing greater control over resources without changing the way the laboratory operates.

Process oriented laboratories, including those in water treatment, chemical and biofuels production, refineries, and food processing plants, require LIMS solutions that optimize workflow and turn around time, while ensuring safety and quality. The LABWORKS base product is a flexible platform that can be quickly deployed and configured to match the specific needs of a laboratory and/or industry. LABWORKS 6.1 retains these key features while allowing the user to take advantage of a Web connected device for information access.

LABWORKS 6.1 software features LABWORKS WebTop™, a zero footprint platform requiring no software installation on the mobile device and allowing the customer to use any available Web browser to access product testing results when and where they are needed.

PerkinElmer made the announcement today at the annual Pittsburgh Conference (PITTCON) in Chicago, Illinois, where the new LABWORKS 6.1 will be on display at booth #942, March 9-12, 2009.
