SLAS Announces 39 Recipients of its Tony B. Academic Travel Awards Program

The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), in an effort to support young scientists and encourage them to explore their futures in the laboratory science and technology field, has selected 39 up-and-coming students, post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty as Tony B. Academic Travel Award recipients.

Through this esteemed program, award recipients are offered the opportunity to attend and present at the First Annual SLAS Conference & Exhibition, February 4-8, 2012 in San Diego, CA, USA.

Tony B. Academic Travel Award recipients receive complimentary travel, hotel accommodations and conference registration to participate as podium or poster presenters at this five-day international event.

 This year’s award recipients are:

Each year, an SLAS judging panel conducts a comprehensive evaluation to select an elite group of students who qualify for Tony B. Academic Travel Awards. SLAS allocates up to $50,000 annually for this program.

The Tony B. Academic Travel Awards honor Tony Beugelsdijk, Los Alamos National Laboratory, an inspirational and iconic leader in the field of laboratory science and technology. He served at the forefront of this discipline, guiding its early stages of creation and development, and made an extraordinary impact on our community.
