This presentation will review the latest advancements in coating techniques for electron microscopy (EM). The importance of coating in EM will be discussed and you will learn how to achieve an optimum coat that will enable you to obtain the best quality EM images possible.
Dr. Kim Rensing is the Applications Specialist responsible for promotion and training for biological sample preparation with Leica Microsystems Inc. He holds an honorary research associate appointment with the University of British Columbia in Canada where he develops and tests sample preparation protocols and instrumentation. Prior to working for Leica Microsystems Inc., he was an assistant professor and electron microscopy facility manager at the University of Calgary in Canada. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2000 studying plant cell biology using the methods that he now promotes.
