Product News: LI-COR Releases New Probe to Detect Apoptosis and Bacterial InfectionsLI-COR® Biosciences has teamed up with Molecular Targeting Technologies, Inc. to offer PSVue® 794 a near-infrared fluorescent probe for researchers who have the need to detect bacteria, apoptotic and necrotic cells, or other anionic membranes for in vivo or in vitro use.
“PSVue 794 binds to the phosphatidylserine (PS) residues exposed on the cell surface of apoptotic cells, making it a more cost-effective alternative to fluorescently labeled Annexin V for various cell death assays,” says Shawn Mischnick, LI-C0R technical product specialist. “This probe is also suitable for high-throughput screening assays.”
PSVue 794 binds to a variety of cell types that have negatively charged phospholipids exposed on their membranes, including necrotic cells, Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, activated cells, tumor vascular endothelial cells, and viruses. The near-infrared fluorescent signal can be imaged on the LI-COR Pearl® Impulse or Odyssey® CLx Imaging System.
