Product News: HMM Diagnostics to Present Revised Telehealth Smartphone for Blood Glucose Measurement at Medica 2012

HMM Diagnostics GmbH is to present the revised hFon plus at Medica from the 14th to the 17th of November, 2012 in Düsseldorf. hFon plus was developed especially for the hLine telemonitoring system, a complete package solution with suitable infrastructure.

The hFon is the world‘s first Telehealth smartphone with integrated glucose monitor. This mobile phone collects the measurement data of compatible smartLAB^® products. The results can be stored and shown on the phone’s display. hFon plus is not only able to measure vital data, but also to transfer data wireless to any telemonitoring system. For an even quicker and better wireless transference the telehealth smartphone hFon plus is equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and an ANT-2 chip.

The operating system is also new. The old Windows system 6.5 was replaced by Android 4. "Android 4 guarantees a very light service and can be optimally  adapted to the hardware“, says Maher Khoury, Managing Director of HMM  Diagnostics GmbH. “Another advantage of Android is the compatibility with many Apps“.

The high resolution touch screen display is bigger with 4.0 inches HD TFT than the predecessor's model. "With hFon plus a better visibility and use is guaranteed, in particular for older people“, according to Khoury.

hFon plus is equipped with a module slot which is suitable not only for the application of blood glucose measuring modules, but in future also for other diagnostics devices like ECG or oximeter.

Two cameras belong to the other innovations. The rear camera disposes of a resolution of 5.0 Megapixel with auto focus which supports audio, video and auto focus functions. The front camera has a 0.3 mega pixels CMOS sensor and is planned for video telephone calls – for example with doctors or medical services.

“hFon plus connects the functions of a telehealth measuring instrument with functions of modern Smartphones. The telehealth smartphone hFon plus is a milestone in mobile telemonitoring“, adds Khoury.

hFon plus has furthermore an integrated memory card of 512 MB RAM / 4 GB ROM, 3D acceleration sensor, GPS and supports micro SD memory cards up to 32 GB. The hFon plus is available in black/silver and white/silver from autumn, 2012.
