Industry News: METTLER TOLEDO supports USP for seminars on Good Weighing Practices

METTLER TOLEDO, the leading global supplier of precision instruments and services, is supporting the US Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention, an official public standards-setting organization whose standards are used in more than 130 countries, to present a course entitled 'Good Weighing Practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry: A Risk-Based Guideline'.

Unique course on weighing compliance:
The one day course, consisting of lectures and demonstrations, has been developed by USP and METTLER TOLEDO experts to help QA/QC and compliance managers in the pharmaceutical industry keep their companies in compliance. Attendees will learn the scientific approach for good weighing practices with a strong emphasis on risk assessment, including information on how to develop and execute procedures for efficient verification and maintenance programs. The course will expose common misconceptions regarding balance selection and use, as well as inadequate routine testing.

The course will be presented in English and is available at three venues: Basel, Switzerland (May 19, 2009), San Francisco, CA (June 2, 2009) and Somerset, NJ (June 4, 2009). Course topics include specification and assessment of balance properties, weighing uncertainty and minimum weight within the context of General Chapter , proper balance qualification, live demonstration of external influences on weighing and their prevention, and risk-based routine operation and testing of weighing systems.
