Industry News: Interest in MEDICA and COMPAMED continues at high level

16 May 2008

The largest international medical trade fair, MEDICA, will remain the central market platform of the medical technology industry in 2008! Even now, a full six months before the start of the event, it is becoming apparent that the exhibitor registrations for the 40th World Forum of Medicine (19 to 22 November 2008) will at least be at par with the final results of the previous year, i.e. cover 118,000 m2 of display area. Again, more than 4,200 exhibitors are expected to present at MEDICA.

“The majority of exhibitors uses MEDICA to introduce its nearly complete product portfolio to an audience from about 100 countries”, Wilhelm Niedergöker, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf, explains the reasons for the continuously excellent booking attitude of the exhibitors over the years.
Classified clearly by market segments through the use of a corresponding hall allocation scheme, the topics at MEDICA 2008 cover all needs for in-patient and outpatient care. The main focus areas are: electromedical equipment, medical technology, laboratory equipment / diagnostics, physiotherapy / orthopaedic technology, medical products (single-use products and consumer goods), information and communication technology, textiles, medical furniture, room furnishings, and premises and building technology.

No other event worldwide offers such a comprehensive and well-structured overview of the latest medical products and trends.

In addition to the products presented by the exhibitors, the theme parks and the forums, e.g. MEDICA MEDIA (telemedicine, medical IT), MEDICA VISION (Innovation Forum presented by the research institutes and universities) or the Physiotherapy Forum, important factors of success with regards to attractive topic focus areas also include the MEDICA Congress, which is the largest inter-disciplinary professional development forum in Germany (with approximately 200 certified seminars and courses) and the German Hospital Conference.

COMPAMED 2008 – High tech solutions for medical technology
Parallel to MEDICA, COMPAMED, the leading international trade fair for the supplier market of the medical manufacturing sector (19 to 21 November 2008) is expected to seamlessly tie in with the record participation of 2007 with 450 exhibitors from 30 nations and continue on its growth path in the two new halls of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre (Halls 8a + 8b). In this environment, the suppliers present a comprehensive range of high tech solutions for use in the medical technology industry – from new materials, components, preliminary products, packaging and services to complex microsystems technology and nanotechnology. The synergy effects generated by the proximity of COMPAMED and world’s largest medical exhibition, MEDICA, set major impulses for innovations in the field of medicine. This is because here the leading manufacturers (exhibitors at MEDICA) meet the leading suppliers (exhibitors at COMPAMED). COMPAMED’s target group includes production managers, managers of research and development departments and all persons dealing with the production planning regarding medical products. Of the 137,000 trade visitors of the overall event, including MEDICA and COMPAMED 2007, 13,000 individuals were interested in the topic range offered at COMPAMED.

“The success of COMPAMED is based on its clear positioning. By concentrating on the supplier market, it separates itself from MEDICA, yet complements it. Therefore, there is no overlap in the product range of finished medical products, as experienced at other events,” Horst Giesen, Project Director of MEDICA and COMPAMED emphasises the clearly defined profile of COMPAMED, which is tailored to the needs of a highly specialised target group.

MEDICA and COMPAMED 2008 together will occupy the entire exhibition grounds (19 halls).

With regards to the thematic hall allocation, the opening hours and ticket policy, everything remains as in the previous year. MEDICA and COMPAMED can be accessed with a single ticket valid for any of the events. The ticket is also valid for most of the MEDICA Congress events.

Opening hours of MEDICA and COMPAMED 2008: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (MEDICA only).
