Industry News: Drug Discovery Conferences Highlight Research Advancements Made with the Corning® Epic® System
15 Sep 2009
Corning Incorporated today announced its support of two scientific symposia that will focus on new drug discovery and life science research advances made possible through label-free detection technology.
The first event, the Corning Label-Free Summit, will be held this week at the Corning European Technology Center in Fontainebleau, France. Researchers from leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic institutions will present recent findings in areas ranging from cellular signal transduction pathway analysis to high-throughput screening for drug discovery – all of which were made using label-free detection technology.
“We are pleased to be hosting so many distinguished life science researchers for this event,” said Ron Verkleeren, business director, Corning® Epic® System. “At last year’s summit, scientists presented results from the world’s first high-throughput label-free screens, which were conducted using our Epic system. We anticipate several additional breakthroughs at this year’s event as well.” Later this fall, Corning is also sponsoring a Label-Free Symposium, organized by the Society of Biomolecular Sciences (SBS), that will be held from Nov. 2-3 in San Diego, Calif.
Corning’s Epic system is the world’s first high-throughput, label-free screening system. It uses patented optical biosensor technology to measure a broad range of biochemical and cell-based targets. Corning introduced in the system 2006 and has deployed it at customer sites in North America, Europe, and Asia.
