It is our pleasure and privilege to invite you to join the 22nd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, which will be held in London from 31st March to 3rd April 2012. We are proud to host our annual congress in the 2012 Olympic City.

The Programme Committee has created a comprehensive series of keynote lectures, symposia, educational workshops and meet-theexpert sessions, covering the entire field of infection-related diseases.

Applied research and knowledge from clinical and laboratory practice are presented, many of them in an interactive way, allowing for an active exchange of experiences from various sub-specialties from all over the world.

Congress attendees will not only benefit from scientific exchange during the formal activities. Networking with colleagues with a mixture of backgrounds allows for identifying new research ideas and innovative ways of organizing laboratory and clinical processes.

To host our annual congress in London during the Olympic year provides a unique opportunity in many ways. We have already mentioned the scientific programme, but the location of the 22nd ECCMID is equally important.
