Video of the Year

In the Video of the Year category, Dr Peter O’Toole from the University of York, with ZEISS Microscopy, were the winners for a unique presentation filmed at the EMBL microscopy meeting discussing the benefits of 3D microscopy for biologists and how it can be used for in vivo 3D imaging. Dr O’Toole also explains how he hopes to implement correlative microscopy techniques to understand genomic, metabolomics and biochemical data. Watch it again here.

Article of the Year

It was the neurodegenerative disease research of Drs. Ramon Trullas and Petar Podlesniy of the Neurobiology Unit at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomediques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS/CSIC/CIBERNED) in Barcelona, which secured the award for Life Sciences Article of the Year. Their joint article looked into progress in Alzheimer’s Disease biomarker identification.

Webinar of the Year

Essen BioScience scooped the award for Life Sciences Webinar of the Year with Smart Cell Assays for Immuno-Oncology, which took an in-depth look at live cell analysis in the fight against cancer.

Email of the Year

Corning Life Sciences picked up the award for Email of the Year for its free poster, Cell Contamination, which helpfully reminds laboratories of the best ways to avoid contamination and minimize its effects.

Reviewers’ Choice Award™ – Life Sciences Product the Year

The final award announced on the night was the Reviewers’ Choice Award for Life Sciences Product of the Year which was awarded to DeNovix Inc., for its DS-11 FX+ Spectrophotometer / Fluorometer, a product which combines fluorescence and microvolume absorbance methods in a single, compact instrument.
