Clinical Microbiology involves the study of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites of medical importance. Analysis involves blood culture using agar plates, laboratory incubators and hot plates. Diagnostic kits often use PCR or ELISA techniques for pathogen detection. Identification is often determined by use of optical microscopes or mass spectroscopy.
