Application Note: A Complete General Unknown Screening Workflow for Analysis of Drugs and Toxic Compounds in Urine Using LC-MS
18 February 2008

Implementation of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for general unknown screening (GUS) analysis provides specific and sensitive detection of drugs and toxic substances. A customized software program (ToxID™1.0, Thermo Scientific) is able to automatically generate both short and long reports, avoiding the need for manual analysis of each sample chromatogram.

This application note describes the use of an ion trap mass spectrometer (LXQ and LCQ Fleet) equipped with an ESI source, Surveyor LC system and CTC autosampler for identification of unknown compounds in human urine.
