Application Note: The Relationship Between Optical Volume & Cell Volume in Biological Samples

Changes in cell volume occur during a number of important physiological processes including the cell cycle, cell death and differentiation. This application note describes how the Phasefocus Livecyte ptychography in order to generate quantitative phase images of cells. It also compares confocal cell volume with optical cell volume and concludes that using the assumptions of a constant ncell for each cell line, the optical volume is an effective metric to assess the average cell volume.
