Lignocellulose Isolation and Quantum Dots Labeling from Difficult to Lyse Picea Omorika Conifer Plant Branches

This application note describes a method to obtain a highly pure cell wall (CW) from conifer branches. The vigorous motion of the FastPrep-24, combined with organic extraction allow for the complete removal of the soluble plant cell constituent, leaving behind the lignin-cellulosic complex in a highly purified form. The purified CW was then labeled with quantum dots (QD) and biophysical analytical methods were applied to determine whether the QDs induce structural changes.
