Rapid Mutation Detection Using a Modified Resequencing Workflow

Despite the advent of the novel next-generation sequencing technologies that will enable resequencing of whole genomic regions, researchers also face the increasing need for fast and accurate targeted sequencing of shorter gene fragments in large sample cohorts (e.g., exons and promoter regions). In this study, an innovative protocol based on capillary sequencing was used to rapidly identify CD–associated mutations in donor samples. This modified three hour approach enabled researchers at the Chrisitan-Albrechts University, Kiel, Germany, to have a routine workflow, better instrument usage, and robust results.
