Application Note: Direct Analysis of Opioids and Metabolites from Whole Blood Using Ostro Sample Preparation Plates and UPLC/MS/MS for Forensic Toxicology
10 September 2013
Forensic laboratories often analyze whole blood specimens for the presence of natural and synthetic opioids to determine cause of death. In the past, protocols called for GC/MS with enzymatic hydrolysis. Here, Waters presents a streamlined method using Ostro Sample Preparation Plates combined with UPLC/MS/MS for the direct analysis of 22 opioid compounds and glucuronide metabolites of interest in whole blood samples.
