Application Note: DNA Extraction from Eois (Geometridae) Moths using the Precellys®24 Homogenizer
17 July 2015

This application note demonstrates the extraction of mitochondrial DNA fragments from Eois (Geometridae) moths to distinguish and identify species.  To preserve material for morphological analyses, the amount available for DNA extraction is often very small, and insects in the field may have partially degraded DNA. The method described here is a fast, easy and contamination free homogenization of tissue samples allowing efficient use of the smallest amount of sample.
