Application Note: UPLC^® and Online Radioactivity Detection of Metabolites

The study of the metabolism of a compound plays a key role in drug discovery and optimization. This application note describes the protocol for using the Waters® Open Architecture UPLC^® System coupled to a Berthold Radioactivity Monitor LB509 to monitor the metabolites produced when a 3H labelled drug was injected into a hepatocyte suspension culture. The coupling of UPLC^® and Online Radioactivity was found to significantly improve the separation and data quality for the identification of the labelled metabolites.
