Tg of Glycerine using a Stainless Steel Gauze Scaffold

Traditionally, the determination of the glass transition it is performed using Shear geometry, but this can be problematical with the material liable to flow at room temperature. An alternative is demonstrated in this application note by the use of a gauze scaffold to support glycerine. The glass transition is easily identified and correlates to data from a DSC experiment.
