Syringe Filter Filtration Efficiency and Impact on LC Column Life

Syringe filters function by blocking and removing particulates from a sample matrix. It is critical to evaluate filtration efficiency to understand whether the filter performs to the expected standard. Furthermore, column plugging is the most frequently encountered source of LC column failure. This application note tested the Agilent Captiva Premium syringe filters extensively for filtration efficiency to fully demonstrate their filtration capability. The results show that appropriate sample filtration prior to injection on column can significantly extend column lifetime.
