Microorganism identification and classification based on MALDI-TOF MS fingerprinting

This application note demonstrates MALDI-TOF MS as an high throughput and reliable method for the classification and identification of microorganisms. Applications are feasible in clinical diagnostics, environmental and taxonomical research, or food processing quality control. The robust method requires minimal sample preparation efforts and life cycle costs. This process when utilizied in combination with dedicated analysis software allows the unambiguous identification of bacteria, yeasts and fungi.
