Macroscopic in vivo analysis of transplanted cardiomyocytes - In Vivo Imaging Application Article

Transplantation of cardiomyocytes after an infarction can reduce the incidence of cardiac arrhythmia. Furthermore, the functional integration of the transplanted cells can be confirmed using macroscopic fluorescence imaging of a genetically encoded Ca2+ sensitive protein in vivo. This application article examines the Olympus MVX10 macroscope, in combination with the Ca2+ sensitive protein GCaMP2, for investigating functional coupling of transplanted cells in vivo. By Dr P.
