Application Note: Accurate and Automated Cell Confluence Assessment in Microplates

This application note details a long-term experiment in which the Spark™ 20M multimode reader was used in combination with SparkControl™ software to measure the confluence of cell cultures. The results were compared to a simultaneous fluorescence-based readout of cell-associated GFP signal as an indicator of cell growth. The results show that the confluence function of the Spark 20M provides and accurate and reliable label-free means of studying the growth of cells.
