Application Note: A Generic Biomass Soft Sensor and its Application in Bioprocess Development
17 January 2018
In this application note, Eppendorf refers to the measurement of microbial biomass data in real time, using a soft sensor developed by researchers at TU Wein. This enables researchers to monitor cell growth and more rapidly establish optimal conditions for the development of bioprocesses, as these conditions change over time. Using a unique algorithm, the soft sensor is a simple, valuable tool for estimating biomass in C-source-limited fed-batch and continuous cultures, and determining uptake rates of substrates and inducers. Furthermore, this system can be scaled up for industry applications.
