In gas chromatography the Method Detection Limit, or MDL, is the minimum concentration of a substance that can be measured with 99% confidence that the analyte concentration is greater than zero. It can be difficult for GC analysts to find a method sensitive enough to meet the MDLs, this technical note from Phenomenex addresses that issue by discussing two methods which produce a sharper peak shape and have higher sensitivity.
