Application Note: Screening Cancer Genes Using NimbleGen Sequence Capture Arrays and the GS Junior Sequencing System
29 July 2013
Although the cost for whole genome sequencing has substantially decreased recently, more focused analytical approaches are especially valuable when investigating particular diseases or in genome wide association study (GWAS) follow up. PCR is the gold standard for retrieving small genomic segments from a sample, however as the number and size of the target region increase PCR becomes very labor intensive and costly. Recently oligo hybridization methods have been shown to effectively enrich for both contiguous and disjoint regions of the genome with much less effort than is required for PCR targeting of similar regions. This application note illustrates the combination of NimbleGens Sequence Capture and sequencing using the GS Junior System by targeting 1351 exons from 75 known cancer associated genes.
