Dr. James Olcese, an Alzheimer’s Researcher from the College of Medicine at Florida State University, presented at poster at Neuroscience 2012 entitled “Genetic deletion of melatonin receptors enhances cognitive performance.” In this video Dr. Olcese tells SelectScience about some of the techniques used to gain an understanding of the role of melatonin receptors in Alzheimer’s disease including the generation of knockout mice, quantitative infrared fluorescent immunoblotting to analyze protein expression and mass spectrometry for proteomic profiling.
